It’s a pain when you’re waiting in for your Amazon delivery; you know it’s on prime but you have no idea what time it’s going to arrive. Amazon and Asos are about to solve that problem with live tracking updates from your delivery driver!
It was just after Christmas we noticed this latest update, when you log into your Amazon account and check orders you’ll see relevant updates. If your package is out for delivery you’ll be presented with a map and a little blue icon, similar to google maps moving around. Although you cant be sure how many deliveries your driver has before your house; if he’s close you probably don’t have time to nip to Tesco!
The courier companies are beginning to add modern technology to their services; this includes tracking monitors in the driver’s vehicle to enable you to keep track on your parcel.
Companies have been including text services for a while, with some going as far as giving you a call when they are around the corner. The latest feature removes the requirement of texts or phone calls and enables the customer real-time information.
Unfortunately not, through testing it appears, it’s only available on selected products. If anything is being distributed by standard post, it’s likely it won’t be using the more secure service. If you’re required to sign for the product, or you’re expecting it quickly, the chances are you’ll be given this tracking info.
Unfortunately, after so many incidents with drones, it appears deliveries from the sky have been put on hold. Amazons marketing department possibly enjoyed all the news about the futuristic form of deliveries; but for now, the project is on hold.
With so much of the UK in some form of aeroplane airspace, it’s no surprise the shopping giant hasn’t received permission to dominate the sky just yet.
